Overview
The path of the unfaithful.
Still worried about Lindsey and your ban be damned, you go back to the hospital to try and visit her. To your surprise, you see her and her parents in the reception lounge talking with a doctor. You overhear the doctor explaining that at Lindsey's current rate of healing, it could be years before she fully recovers. However, there are experimental treatments and surgeries that might speed up the process. Lindsey is on board, but given the experimental nature of the procedures and their insistence on putting everything in God's hands, her parents decline. Before you can say or do anything else, the Hospital Guard spots you and escorts you out of the building.
Lindsey's parents arrive back at the marina not long after you do, and in an attempt to defend Lindsey, you confront them about their inaction to help their daughter. They'll continue to insist that whatever happens will be up to God and for you to stay out of their business. Frustrated, you decide you must see Lindsey again ASAP and ask the Nurse for help. Unfortunately for you, she insists that Lindsey's parents' wishes be respected, but fortunately, she lends you her Keycard to regain access to the hospital.
Upon arriving at Lindsey's room, you're confused to see that she's not there. You ask a nearby nurse of her whereabouts and learn she's in the hospital gym. Sure enough, you find Lindsey gripping onto parallel bars, slowly lifting herself up and trying to inch forward with tears and determination on her face. After several long and agonizing attempts, she collapses and silently accepts defeat. You approach and attempt to console her, but the blank look of hopelessness on her face shatters your heart. Even after bringing her back to her room and attempting to reassure her that she'll be okay, she appears as an emotionless statue. Unsure what else to do right now, you decide to talk to Jo for guidance.
Trying your hardest to keep your composure, you vent to her about the situation and your uncertainty of it all. She understands your pain, but sadly states that the best you can do for Lindsey is continue to be there for her and give her time to heal. You then remember you forgot to return the Nurse's Keycard, but decide to visit Lindsey one more time before doing so. As you're about to enter the hospital, though, the Nurse runs into you. She explains that she heard about your care for Lindsey at the gym and explained the situation to her doctor and parents. They agreed that you may visit Lindsey briefly each day, to which you thank her and take her up on that claim by going into her room.
You find a wheelchair-bound Lindsey staring outside her window, and after trying to spark a friendly conversation, you're given a cold and bitter response. This isn't the Lindsey you know, but you know that she's still in there deep inside. You both will just have to take this one step at a time. You leave the hospital and are rewarded with three repeatable scenes, with you choosing one to play each day you visit.
Hope is the most precious gem.
Characters
Scenes
- Lindsey's Struggle
Missable Interactions
- When Lindsey's Dad tells you that this is none of your business:
- Telling him that Lindsey is your friend will have him insist again that you stay out of this and will get authorities involved if you don't.
- If Lindsey has 20 Love points and you tell her dad that you're crazy about her, Lindsey's Mom will claim that they've done all they can, to which you'll argue that they haven't, giving you 1 Love point.
- When starting the music or napping repeatable scenes after the quest, Lindsey will tell you that she heard what you said and confess that she feels the same way, giving both of you 3 Love points.
- Telling him that modern medicine has advanced a long way will have him tell you it's rude to eavesdrop on others' conversations, to which you'll gain 1 Intellect point upon retorting that said conversation was in a public lobby.
- When Nurse hesitates to give you her keycard:
- Telling her it's the least she could do if she's not going to help Lindsey will subtract 1 Love point from her as she insists that she could be fired or arrested over this.
- She'll reluctantly hand it over if she has 12 Lust points or you have her Compromising Photo or Damning Document.
- If you promise to be careful and insist that you need to see her, she'll hand it over after insisting you be quick with it.
- When Jo tells you to be patient with Lindsey's recovery:
- Telling her that's not good enough will have you express anger about Lindsey's parents' insistence on "God's will". Jo insists that their beliefs should be respected, even if it can be a complicated situation.
- Telling her that you know she'd do anything she could for you in a similar situation will give both of you 1 Love point as she agrees with you.
- Telling her that they don't love her enough will give you 1 Love point as you insist that you love her more than they do.
- Telling her you hate feeling helpless will lead to you asking yourself why a loser like you gets a second chance while someone as pure as Lindsey gets hurt. You'll each earn 1 Love point as you tell yourself you'd give up your second chance right now if it meant her injuries get reversed.
- Telling her that's not good enough will have you express anger about Lindsey's parents' insistence on "God's will". Jo insists that their beliefs should be respected, even if it can be a complicated situation.
- When Nurse explains that you're allowed to visit Lindsey as long as you're civil:
- Asking if you spoke to the doctor and Lindsey's parents for her will give you 1 Love point as you thank her for her kindness.
- Saying that it's rich coming from the ones who won't give her the help she needs will give you 1 Strength point as you insist that you'll fight back if they try to ban you again.
- Exclaiming that you will be a model citizen will give you 1 Intellect point as you agree with Nurse that both you and Lindsey need this.
- When Lindsey asks if you were worried about her because she's so pathetic:
- Telling her not to say that will have you explain that she can try walking again today if she wants to, to which she says she doesn't.
- Telling her that self pity doesn't suit her will subtract 1 Love point from her as she insists to you that you can't understand what she's going through.
- Telling her that what she did yesterday was the bravest thing you ever saw will have her fight back about how she gave up in the end, but after you insist that you'll always be there for her whenever she tries again, she'll gain 1 Love point as she quietly thanks you.
